Indiegogo Campaign is a success!
Montreal, July 2, 2013. Visual artist Denise Buisman Pilger ran a successful Indiegogo Campaign. The funds raised will go towards the production of an Art Book of her latest series ‘Discoveries: Montreal’. The first ‘Perks’ are being sent out to the contributors this week and work on the book is in full swing. The book is expected to come out in the fall of 2013. There will be an official book launch party which will coincide with the vernissage for the show ‘Discoveries: Montreal’. More information will be posted here as it comes out.
Let’s create an art book together!
Montreal, May 20, 2013. For the past two years Denise Buisman Pilger has been working on a series of 34 artworks called 'Discoveries: Montreal'. In this series she explores the boroughs on the island of Montreal, capturing the iconic and quirky details that make every borough unique, turning each into a one-of-a-kind mixed media panel. Now that the series is almost completed the artist wants to give each of you the opportunity to own the entire series in the form of a high quality art book.
To help realize this dream the artist has created an IndieGoGo crowd sourcing campaign to raise funds to help with the costs of creating the book. There are some amazing rewards ranging from personalized cards and high quality prints to acknowledgements in the book and signed copies.
Work on the book is in an advanced stage, text is being edited and the graphic design has almost been completed. Arrangements have been made for photography of the pieces and for the translation of the texts, which will be in both French and English.
Making a donation is easy, If you would like to contribute you can follow this link and click on the 'contribute now' button on the right. Contributions start as low as $5,- and donators can receive awesome thank you gifts ranging from personalized cards and hight quality prints to acknowledgements in the book and signed copies.†There are set donation amounts for each 'Perk' (thank you gift) but you can enter any amount you wish to donate and don't forget to select your 'Perk' after you've entered the amount! For shipping we ask that you add the appropriate amount (as stated with each reward) to your donation manually when you enter the amount you wish to donate. If I see you often or you live close by you don't have to add the shipping because we can probably figure out a way for you to receive your gift directly :) Payments can be made through credit card or PayPal and amounts will be automatically converted to your own currency.
We have chosen to do a fixed campaign which means that if we don't reach our goal your money will be returned to you in full. If there are any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Please consider making a pledge. You can check out the campaign here. Can't give today? No worries! There are plenty of other ways to help the artist achieve this goal. Please share this project with all of your friends, family members and acquaintances both on and off-line. Use Facebook and Twitter (or any other social media site), blog about it, talk about it with your colleagues or your hairdresser, tell as many people as you can! We are sincerely grateful for any help you are able to give us. Thank you!
“ARTiculation” - Expressions of words and image
Montreal, May 10, 2013. This exhibition explores visual art's long standing connection to language. Visual images and language have been an essential part of human history, dating back to hieroglyphics. Language and its ability to incite, arouse, instigate, persuade, evoke and provoke thought and emotion, is part of its continuing appeal to artists of all disciplines.
“ARTiculation” explores the many ways in which word influences image and image, word. The inherent relationship of visual, written and spoken language is a vital part of this show. Artists will demonstrate through a variety of different media, the many ways in which we strive to interconnect with each other. Submitted work will represent the power that written, spoken and visual language has to articulate.
A series of lectures, workshops, performances, musical events and film screenings will accompany the show. The exhibit opens May 10th and continues through June 2nd, 2013. Visit vivavidartgallery.com and the upcoming events page for a list of talks, workshops, films and performances.
