VIEW THE EVERYDAY URBAN LANDSCAPE THROUGH THE EYES OF AN ARTIST.
ITbM Gallery presents a series of mixed media cityscapes by Denise Buisman Pilger.
Nagoya, July 27, 2018. Nagoya based Dutch artist Denise Buisman Pilger, will present her unique view of the familiar urban landscape in a solo exhibition titled: ‘Foreign Views’, at ITbM Gallery (464-8601 名古屋市千種区不老町 名古屋大学トランスフォーマティブ生命分子研究所 ITbM Gallery, 1F). The exhibition features the artists’ most recent works, in which she presents a series of condensed memories of her travels. The exhibition runs from August 23 – September 25.
As a frequent traveler, Denise Buisman Pilger, continues to be inspired by the urban landscape and the people that populate it. “We so often complain about our cities being old and dirty and we forget about the beauty that can be found there. ‘Foreign Views’ will give people the opportunity to see the city through my eyes. I love to observe city life, all the cars and people rushing by, I always like to imagine where all those people are going and what their lives are like.” In her work Denise captures those moments, giving us a chance to ponder and make up stories of our own.
‘Foreign Views’ will be the inaugural exhibition at the ITbM Gallery that is located in the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM), whose aim is to create cutting-edge science with potentially signifi cant societal impact. “By adding a gallery space, we want to remind people that science and art go together. I believe that every scientist is an artist that gets inspired by nature and the environment that they are in.” says Gallery Director Dr. Asraa Ziadi.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, Buisman Pilger has a Bachelors Degree in Illustration from the Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts in Rotterdam. She has called Amsterdam, Fort Worth, Montréal and Nagoya home and she has proudly exhibited her work at the 2011 Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, the Artist Project and she recently received the Foreign Minister Award at the Global Artists Movement Exhibition at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art. Her work can be found in galleries in Montréal and Toronto.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to share my work with the wonderful people of Nagoya. My recent move from Montréal Canada to Nagoya Japan has been very inspiring and I am very excited to include some of my newest, Japan inspired pieces, in this exhibition. I love to show the audience the beauty of their everyday environment and Japan definitely has a lot of beauty to offer!” Says Denise Buisman Pilger. | Pictures >>
