Come see Cities Through my Eyes!

Latitude 44 Gallery presents a series of new mixed media cityscapes by Denise Buisman Pilger.

Toronto, March 15, 2017. Montréal based artist Denise Buisman Pilger, will present her unique view of the familiar urban landscape in a solo exhibition titled: ‘Cities Through My Eyes’, at Latitude 44 Gallery, 2900 Dundas St. W. Toronto. The exhibition features the artist’s most recent works, in which she presents a series of condensed memories of her travels. The show runs from April 8 -28, with a special event to celebrate the exhibition on Saturday, April 8, 4pm – 7pm.

A frequent traveler, Denise Buisman Pilger, continues to be inspired by the urban landscape and the people that populate it. “We so often complain about our cities being old and dirty and we forget about the beauty that can be found there. ‘Cities Through My Eyes’ will give people the opportunity to see the city through my eyes. I love to observe city life, all the cars and people rushing by, I always like to imagine where all those people are going and what their lives are like.” In her work Denise captures those moments, giving us a chance to ponder and make up stories of our own.

“With an extended stay in Japan coming, this will be a unique opportunity to see the influences that North America, and Canada in particular, have had on Denise’s work. We are looking forward to following her work in the upcoming years. It will be interesting to see its development as she starts exploring a whole new continent and culture.” Say Latitude 44 gallery directors MaryAnn DiBernardo and Janet DiBernardo

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Buisman Pilger has a Bachelors Degree in Illustration from the Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts in Rotterdam. She has called Amsterdam, Fort Worth, Montréal and soon Nagoya, Japan home.

Denise proudly exhibited her work at the 2011 Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, the Artist Project and the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Her work can be found in galleries in Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to share my work with the wonderful people of Toronto before my extended trip to Japan. Canada has been very good to me and this beautiful country will always hold a special place in my heart. I really hope everyone will join us for the special opening Latitude 44 Gallery on April 8th from 4-7pm, so I have a chance thank you all for making me feel welcome and at home these past eight years!” Says Denise Buisman Pilger
